Black history month opening ceremony

In 2016, the BHMCC innovatively fused two iconic events: the Black History Month Opening Ceremony and the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Service. This vibrant celebration, traditionally a church service, pays homage to the church's historical role as a community hub, fostering unity, dignity, and spirituality. Attendees span all ages, with representatives from government, clergy, and community leaders. The event features dynamic performances by local church choirs, community artists, soloists, and poets. Keynotes come from local ministers and inspirational figures, with a dedicated segment honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The service concludes with a community reception for ethnic refreshments and networking, reflecting a modern approach in 2023.

Closing ceremony

Every year BHMCC take the time to recognize the unsung heroes in our community and celebrate all that we have achieved in the months leading up to February at the Closing Ceremony and Awards Banquet.

The ceremony consists of introduction of our committee, greetings from our distinguished guests which vary from members of government, community leaders and visitors from all over the country and sometimes the world. Within our program with reflect on the hard work and dedication that has brought us to this point. We always remember those trailblazers who worked so hard and have paved the way for us to continue what they started. Each year our program varies; but you can guarantee a warm atmosphere, great food, and entertainment. We know you’ll leave waiting for what we have in store for next year.
